Acres Wild - Garden and Landscape Design

Our aim is to create unique and timeless gardens with enduring appeal and a harmonious sense of place. This approach has resulted in numerous commendations and media interest.

Acres Wild gardens have been featured in a variety of publications including The Times, Sunday Times and the Independent On Sunday, as well as magazines including Gardens Illustrated (Acres Wild Jul/Aug 2001, Inside Out May 2004, and Rural Bliss Dec 2009), The English Garden, Homes & Gardens, and House & Garden (Character Forming Sep 2008), and The Garden (A Touch of the Tropics Nov 2008).

Profiles of Acres Wild have also featured in Garden Illustrated (Design Showcase Feb 2002), and The Garden Design Journal (Designer Profile - Debbie Roberts and Ian Smith Mar 2005) as well as House & Garden (Directory of Britain's 50 Leading Garden Designers Jan 2007).

Ian and Debbie, along with a variety of their designed gardens, have also been featured on television in the pioneer series Gardens By Design, the southern arts programme The Pier and most recently The Garden Makers with Joe Swift.

Publishing

"Creating Garden Ponds and Water Features" (HarperCollins 2001) was the first book authored, illustrated and photographed by directors Debbie Roberts and Ian Smith:

Acres Wild designed gardens and photography have also been published in books including The RHS Encyclopaedia of Garden Design, Contemporary Water Gardens, The Garden Book, Creating Gardens with Atmosphere, John Brookes Garden Masterclass, The Book of Garden Plans, Modern Family Gardens, Designing and Renovating Larger Gardens, and most notably The Modern Garden Makers (Ward Lock 1999) and British Landscape Designers and their Creations (Stichting Kunstboek 2004) where a total of ten gardens are featured, all designed and photographed by Debbie and Ian.
